Midnight Goodbyes

One night you left. I still regret I did not bark to wake the sleeping house. I pressed my nose to the glass of the window as your taxi slipped away. I’m still waiting by that window for you to come home.

  1. Oh, poor puppy! It’s true, though, I’m pretty sure dogs have two senses of space/time: here and now & gone forever. That’s why they’re so happy to see us when we come home.

    • I totally agree. I can leave for 5 minutes to get milk or a cup of coffee downstairs and Xena is all “HOLYSHIT I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THAT WAS ETERNAL LET ME SNIFF YOU AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE REAL!”
